Wolf's Rain (Somewhere in the Middle)

The pack had previously encountered a very strange creature on their travels. She was not a human they knew for certain, but she was not wolf either- walking the earth able to see both humans and wolves for what they were, but appearing in human form to both. The humans were generally clueless, but the wolves could sense it. She was a tortured soul in the wasteland of humans; hunted by them, but not hunted like the wolves were...
After her front with the wolves Kiba, Hige, Toeboe, Tsume, the wolf-dog Blue and their flower Chezza, (and after she showed them her true form) with little other choice and a dire need for change, she decided peregrinate with them for a time. She became a guardian of sorts, to the wolves and their flower and it seemed as if while she was with them none of them ever came to harm. Having been a loner for so long her personality was less than desirable for most of her would-be ‘friends’- she was sharp and resourceful in both conversation and combat, both sarcastic and wise in wit and Tsume of the 5 found himself most evenly matched with this.
Little did they know when they agreed to let her run with them that she too knew of this " Paradise " they were in search of. They traded stories and theories and it came as a shock to them in discovering that she had more insight on their " Paradise " than even they, the wolves, did- for while it may indeed be a wolf that is needed to open it, paradise cannot be Paradise unless all those that deserve it can find it.
As their mismatched leaderless pack traveled together they became the tightest they’d ever been with Griffin at their side. Ironically enough, a gargoyle seemed to make their pack whole and they just couldn’t put their paws on to why that was. Tsume, especially, grew quite fond of Griffin- of course, not that he’d admit it or anything…
Circumstance called Griffin away for an unexpected unknown length of time and they were unsure of whether they’d ever see her again. Tsume wanted to say so many things; he even wanted to go with her, but instead of letting anyone know his feelings, Griffin in particular… He left when she was saying her goodbyes refusing to admit that she was leaving. When she was gone, the heaviness of their loss shown least on Tsume’s face and it was then that it became apparent to the whole how Tsume had really felt.
Time had passed and the gravity of the possibility she may never return was weighing heavier on their hearts each day…
Finally, one night when they’d stopped to rest…

(And REMEMBER: This is a traditional Manga page so be sure and read right to left top to bottom.)
